Art Macias was appointed Executive Director of the Arizona Lottery in November 2005 by Governor Janet Napolitano. He served as the Governor’s Director of the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures since July 2003. Prior to joining state government, Macias served for seven years as the Director of the Community and Economic Development of the City of Douglas on the U.S.-Mexico border in southeastern Arizona.
Mr. Macias received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Brandeis University and a French Master’s in International Management from the Ecole Supieruere des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC) in Paris, France as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.
He serves as the Vice Chairman of the Border Trade Alliance, is an active member of the Arizona-Mexico Commission and is a founding board member of the Arizona Latino Research Enterprise. Most recently he was appointed by Governor Janet Napolitano to serve on the Governing Committee for Tax Deferred Annuity and Deferred Compensation Plans, overseeing the investments comprising the State’s employee deferred compensation plan.
