Estate Planning
Please make Goodwill of Central Arizona a part your estate planning.
Goodwill has a long history of providing employment and training services to people with disabilities or other barriers to employment. All Goodwill programs are made possible through the generosity of people like you. A planned gift to Goodwill of Central Arizona helps to ensure the future of the services we provide in our community, and may help to further your financial goals by reducing the value of your taxable estate.
Planned gifts include gifts through your will, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and gifts of life insurance. We highly recommend that you consult with your own tax or legal advisor prior to making a planned gift.
Many people use their will to support important causes or organizations. Such gifts are very meaningful, because they allow you — even after your death — to continue to support causes that are important to you. You can also use your will to memorialize someone who is especially important in your life through a bequest made to Goodwill of Central Arizona in their name. Such gifts — whether direct bequests or bequests made to honor others — are a great way to express your values and further an important cause, leaving a legacy of life for those who follow you.
Using your will to give to us
A will is the most effective means to ensure that you fully provide for your family and that your assets are correctly distributed. A bequest through your will provides much-needed support for the ongoing work of Goodwill of Central Arizona. The federal government encourages bequests by allowing an unlimited estate tax deduction for charities.
To make a bequest to Goodwill of Central Arizona, we encourage you to use the following language:
I give, devise, and bequeath to Goodwill Industries of Central Arizona, the sum of __________ (or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate) to be used for the general purposes of the agency.
There are three ways you can make a bequest
Specific Bequest — You designate a specific dollar amount, specific percentage, or specific property to Goodwill of Central Arizona.
Residual Bequest — Your estate will pay all debts, taxes, expenses, and specific bequests. The remaining amount, the residue, will be transferred to Goodwill of Central Arizona.
Contingent Bequest — You can ask that Goodwill of Central Arizona receive all or a portion of your estate only under certain circumstances. For example, you can name Goodwill of Central Arizona as a beneficiary of your estate only if there are not surviving close family members.
If you have already included Goodwill of Central Arizona in your will or estate plan, please contact us. We realize that with this special gift you consider us to be part of your family, and we want to keep you informed as to how your gift will be used and to give you the opportunity to tell us of your wishes.
