Top Five Things You Probably Didn’t Know You Could Donate to Goodwill of Central Arizona
While you are cleaning out your closets this spring, Goodwill would like to encourage you to consider donating your unwanted clothes and other household items to our retail stores and donation centers.
Your donations keep millions of pounds of gently used items out of Arizona’s landfills and puts them into the hands of those who can reuse them.
Did you know Goodwill can help clean out more than just clothing, drawers and closets?
From the office to the garage, here are the top five things you might not realize Goodwill of Central Arizona accepts as donations:
1. Computers: Whether they are in working condition or not, desktop computers and laptops contain parts that are hazardous to the environment if not disposed of properly. Through a partnership with Dell, all Goodwill donation centers in central Arizona now accept computers to be recycled, free of charge. Stores will accept donations of computer accessories such as keyboards, mice and USB drives.
2. Cell phones: When people upgrade to new cell phones, they often keep the old, unused phones in junk drawers or throw them away. In fact, unused cell phones make up one of the fastest-growing kinds of trash in America. Goodwill works with partners to collect and recycle phones.
3. Cars: Goodwill of Central Arizona accepts vehicle donations, which are either sold at our GOODWHEELS car lot in Phoenix to fund job-training and community-based programs. GOODWHEELS and many Goodwill stores also accept bicycles, boats, trucks, RVs — even airplanes!
4. Money: Individuals who already have clean closets can still help. Goodwill of Central Arizona assists thousands of Arizonans in overcoming obstacles in finding employment. Monetary donations to Goodwill are tax-deductible and Goodwill is consistently ranked among top charities. Moreover, 90 cents of every dollar earned by Goodwill of Central Arizona funds the organization’s commitment to help people prepare for and find work. Please Donate Online today.
5. Time: Valley residents can donate their time by volunteering with Goodwill of Central Arizona. In order to meet the growing demand for our services from central Arizonans, Goodwill now actively recruits community volunteers to serve as ambassadors and support our mission, We Put People to Work.
