Goodwill Launches Pathways Program

Goodwill of Central Arizona is building upon and expanding our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint on our state while accomplishing our mission to Put People to Work through our recently launched Pathways Adult Training and Employment Program.

The Pathways Adult Training and Employment Program aims to assist individuals who are interested in obtaining certification in green jobs. More specifically, this initiative is targeting Phoenix-area residents who are recently unemployed and looking to obtain additional training for better-paying careers.

The Pathways Program is 100 percent funded by a $1,531,442 grant from the Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration through Goodwill Industries International and will offer cohesive programs such as:

  • Green Job Certification
  • On-the-Job Training
  • Pre-Employment Training
  • Transitional Job Training
  • Entrepreneurial Opportunities

Participants must be 18 years or older and must reside in the following zip codes: 85003, 85006, 85007, 85008, 85034, 85040, 85041 and 85042. The program primarily focuses on these districts due to the high unemployment rate.

"Goodwill's mission is to Put People to Work and this program gives us the resources needed to help those who have multiple barriers to employment," stated Ken Hollis, Project Director for the Pathways Adult Training and Employment Program. "The Pathways Program will also focus on eliminating these barriers through life skills training, pre-employment and assessment, job training, industry certifications, supportive services and direct job placement."

Pathways Program orientations, which began on June 8, will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Resource Center, 2405 E. Broadway Road, Phoenix. The orientations will feature knowledgeable and courteous staff members who can help get interested candidates started in the program.

Arizona residents who wish to participate in the program must submit an application online at goodwillaz.org/pathways.
