Goodwill Job Fair on Sept. 22 Draws More Than 725 Jobseekers
Goodwill’s human services programs continue to attract significant numbers of Arizonans who are seeking work. One key way that Goodwill is able to match individuals with job opportunities is to put them face-to-face with hiring companies.
On September 22, Goodwill hosted more than 40 employers and organizations at its fourth job fair of the year in the Phoenix metro area. More than 725 jobseekers attended the fair, held at Anthem College in Phoenix.
“We have been making a great effort to educate our participants about proper job fair etiquette,” said Michael Burchett, Career Services Coordinator for Goodwill of Central Arizona.
Overall, employers seemed impressed with the quality of candidates attending the fair and several employers expressed the satisfaction of partnering with Goodwill.
“Goodwill has so many great programs,” said Jean Beck, Human Resources Generalist for OfficeMax. “We enjoy taking the opportunity to show our support.”
OfficeMax collected applications for both its retail stores and distribution/warehouse centers. Other employers were hiring for a range of positions including those for call centers, security, retail and technology.
“We are proud to announce our largest job fair this year in company participation and our second largest job fair in public attendance,” said Russell Riter, Business Developer for Goodwill Staff Solutions. “These events are extremely important to our mission and they are a success because of the hard working people on our entire team.”
