Yuma Goodwill Career Center extends hours to meet increased demand from jobseekers
PHOENIX (October 9, 2008) — In order to meet the increased demand for Goodwill of Central Arizona’s job services, the nonprofit has expanded hours for its Yuma Career Center. The center will now remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
“Expanding Career Center hours will help accommodate jobseekers,” said Geoffrey Dewhurst, Director of Operations at Goodwill’s Yuma Career Center. “We are continuously trying to make our services more convenient and efficient for those looking for employment.”
Goodwill’s Career Center, located at 1600 S. 4th Ave., Suite 1600 in Yuma, offers job seekers free services including access to computers, printers, telephones and faxes. Additionally, job seekers may search through free employment postings, get help with resumes, participate in mock interviews and meet directly with employers.
More than just a professional location to find employment leads, the Career Center offers many other supportive programs for Yuma residents. For jobseekers wishing to increase their skills, the center offers a free Computer and Customer Service Training Class. The class teaches basic and intermediate computer applications as well as other important soft skills, including telephone etiquette. Goodwill’s Career Center also offers additional supportive employment services such as free income tax preparation and filing.
Goodwill is proud to work with local partners to further its commitment to Put People to Work. Goodwill’s partners include: Yuma Private Industry Council, Business Advisory Council, Arizona Western College, Yuma Union High School District, Yuma Elementary School District #1, DES Vocational Rehabilitation, City of Yuma Neighborhood Development, and the Disability Coalition of Yuma. All of these partners help Goodwill’s Career Center help individuals with occupational barriers seek and maintain employment in the Yuma area.
