Goodwill of Central Arizona Collects 50 Tons of Goods During April Community Donation Drives

It’s that time of year! Spring cleaning has Valley residents emptying their closets and hosting neighborhood garage sales. Goodwill of Central Arizona has once again decided to help these communities “clean out the clutter” and donate their unwanted, gently used household goods.

On April 18, Power Ranch Community Association in Gilbert and San Tan Heights in Queen Creek hosted Goodwill of Central Arizona during their community garage sales. Four trucks from Goodwill’s Transportation team were dispatched to collect items during the drive. Donations collected will be sorted and sold at one of Goodwill’s 42 retail store locations.

“Goodwill really appreciates individuals taking the time and effort to make our donation drives at community associations a success,” said Jackie Halleen, Vice President of Retail Operations for Goodwill. “Our partnerships with communities and homeowners associations are critical to the ongoing success of our organization.”

Goodwill hopes to continue such partnerships with Arizona’s communities throughout the year. Revenue generated from the resale of the donated items is put directly into Goodwill programs that provide work skills development and employment services for Arizonans with employment barriers that need a hand up toward self-sufficiency.

“We are very happy to have Goodwill’s service on-site during our garage sales,” said Wayne Ireland, Community Manager for Power Ranch. “Our residents positively responded and we hope to keep up relations with Goodwill into the future.”
