Phoenix Rotary 100 Club Provides $1,000 Grant to Goodwill

Thanks to a generous $1,000 grant from the Phoenix Rotary 100 Club, Goodwill can continue to provide career development and life skills to families in central Arizona.

Through its Family Strengthening Initiative, Goodwill of Central Arizona’s Youth Services department will offer additional support to families of our participants.

The Family Strengthening Initiative aims to develop community-based workshops that benefit entire families. The workshop series will provide information on skills such as budgeting, applying for financial aid, interviewing and job searching. Sanzanna Lolis, Director of Youth Services, said she intends to launch the workshops in the Summer/Fall 2009.

Pete Ziebron, Goodwill’s Director of Business Development, spearheaded our organization’s efforts to apply for and secure the funds for the Family Strengthening Initiative. Ziebron, who also happens to a Phoenix Rotary 100 Club member, informed Workforce Development staff members about the grant opportunity. Lolis promptly submitted all of the requested paperwork and Goodwill became a proud recipient of the Phoenix Rotary 100 Club’s financial gift in December 2008.

According to Lolis, the Phoenix Rotary 100 Club’s support will provide additional resources for the retention of program youth by engaging them in meaningful life skills and leadership development activities. The one-hour workshops will be delivered in a manner that is appealing to youth and parents.

Lolis expressed her gratitude to the Phoenix Rotary 100 Club during a March 27 luncheon at the Heard Museum in Phoenix. She also invited members to help mentor the youth and serve as speakers or coaches during the Family Strengthening Workshop Series.
