Goodwill to Open Second Donation Center
Goodwill of Central Arizona is poised to offer another convenient location for community supporters who want to donate their gently used items in order to help us accomplish our mission to Put People to Work.
Goodwill will open its second donation center on Nov. 7 at 8251 W. Union Hills Drive in Glendale. This 1,300 square foot site exists to solely to capture donations and ensure donors have a quick, convenient way to donate in areas that do not house a Goodwill retail store. Donors can park at the rear of the building for donations assistance. Goodwill donation attendants will quickly unload the items from the donors' vehicles. All individuals who donate will receive a tax receipt.
According to Kim Ryder, the donation center, which is located in the Arrowhead area is ideal for Goodwill because it is anchored in a busy shopping plaza. Moreover, no Goodwill retail stores are in that district.
"Our research suggests we will capture high-quality donations because demographics indicate that Arrowhead has a donations-rich population," said Ryder. "We are excited to have a center in Arrowhead and we think it will be as successful as our Scottsdale donation center."
The Scottsdale donation facility has received many positive comments from nearby residents, not only for its “look” but its easy accessibility.
Ryder anticipates that Goodwill will open four more donation sites in central Arizona before the end of 2009.
"Strategically, this makes sense and we want to move forward. The challenge is finding a site that is both logistically friendly and convenient for our customers," said Ryder. "If we come across a location that cannot offer both of those qualities, we have to move on.
Long-term, Ryder wants to continue opening donation centers across the Valley.
Hours for the Arrowhead donation center are 8 AM to 8 PM, Monday through Saturday; 10 AM to 6 PM, Sunday.
