Ideas for Giving Back During the Holidays

Giving back is at the core of what we do at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona. If you’re looking forward to giving back during the holidays this year, here are some ideas to get you started.

Host A Corporate Donation Drive

Rally the troops at your office and host a corporate donation drive through Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona! Contact donationdrive@goodwillaz.org to get started.

Make a Monetary Donation

Without your generous contributions, our organization wouldn’t exist. Make your donation by December 31st and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your Arizona state income tax return.

Donate Items You No Longer Need

Keeping our stores stocked with donations allows other community members to purchase these items at a discounted price. Consider donating your gently used clothing, household goods and furniture to a Goodwill near you.

Create Care Packages for Homeless

Collect items for the homeless and arrange them in a care package. Food, water bottles, socks, blankets, and an encouraging letter would all be much appreciated.

Volunteer

There are many organizations in need of volunteers during the holidays. Check out HandsOn Greater Phoenix for some volunteering ideas.

Pay for a Meal

Spontaneously choose a table at a restaurant and pick up their tab. The hope is that they’ll feel compelled to pass on the kindness.

Organize a Food Drive

Enlist the help of your coworkers, neighbors, and family members to collect non-perishable food to donate to a local food bank.

Make Your Charitable Tax Credit Donation by December 31st!

If you’re considering a monetary donation to Goodwill, you can receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your Arizona state income tax return. Anyone who pays Arizona state income tax may be eligible and it does not interfere with an opportunity to also contribute to school tax credits.
