Donald J. Nunnari - Nunnari & Associates, LLC

Donald J. Nunnari

Don Nunnari has been living his passion for “people serving people” for over 22 years in a career with the American Automobile Association (AAA) where over 10 million roadside assistance calls have been completed under his watch. He started his AAA career in Cleveland where his vision led the organization to adopt new technology that optimized road service delivery. Championing innovation within the company, he also pioneered new products such as car financing and mobile battery delivery. He transferred to the Arizona AAA club in 2007 and has held executive positions in membership, travel, and automotive services. Most recently, Nunnari was Vice President of Automotive Services, the group responsible for roadside assistance, club-owned repair shops, mobile glass repair, car buying services, and the AAA approved auto repair program.

He led AAA’s commercial expansion, and has helped the club secure contracts with businesses including COX Communications and the Arizona Department of Transportation. Nunnari’s expertise in building organization support has allowed his teams to balance organizational resources and customer needs. Distinguished by his ability to turn strategy into reality, he has improved member satisfaction while simultaneously adding more member services including seven club-owned automotive repair facilities, as well as mobile windshield replacement and electric vehicle charging at the roadside.

His inspirational leadership and innovative approach to problem solving has led to programs and business practices that were nationally recognized. In 2012, he won the National Association of Fleet Administrators Idea Award and in 2016, he was presented with the AAA National Innovation Award.

Recently, AAA of Arizona and the AAA of Northern California merged. After serious consideration, the Nunnari family declined an opportunity to move to the San Francisco area with the newly merged organization. They elected to remain in Arizona and Don left AAA after 22 years of service.

Prior to AAA, Don had a career in banking in Ohio where he worked with a number of Cleveland institutions in positions ranging from branch manager to senior vice president of retail operations. That background covered a broad spectrum of senior executive responsibilities including marketing, call centers, branch operation, consumer lending, human resources, and facilities. At TransOhio, Ohio’s largest savings bank, he consolidated silo support operations and became the senior executive for a newly created corporate services division responsible for purchasing, corporate records, and bank property management. Working to optimize the bank’s retail branch footprint, he created a branch analysis model the bank used to analyze locations and financial viability.

Expressing his entrepreneurial side, he also founded and managed an Ohio based marketing consulting company and a commercial printing business. He is currently owner and CEO of Nunnari & Associates, LLC helping companies with strategic planning, service quality, and productivity.

Don earned a B.S. degree in Organizational Development from Bowling Green State University and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University of Ohio. He has served on several non-profit Boards of Directors including Sales and Marketing Executives of Cleveland, The Institute of Financial Education, and The Financial Marketers of Ohio where he was the founder and first chairman of that organization. He founded and was the first president of The Northeastern Ohio Customer Contact Association. He also served on the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.
