Women’s sizing can vary a lot from brand to brand. A medium from one label may fit like a small or a large from another.
Look at shoulder width, waist placement, rise and inseam on pants, sleeve length, fabric stretch, and overall garment shape. Vintage pieces can run especially differently from modern sizing, so don’t be afraid to browse beyond your usual section.
For men’s clothing, measurements are often more useful than standard small, medium, and large labels.
Check waist and inseam, shirt collar size, sleeve length, jacket shoulder width, and overall length. If you already own something that fits perfectly, measuring it at home gives you an easy reference for future trips.

Here’s where shopping at Goodwill comes with an extra confidence boost.
Goodwill accepts eligible returns within seven days of purchase at Metro-Phoenix, Yuma, and Northern Arizona locations. For standard accepted returns, you’ll need your purchase receipt and the purchased item with the original Goodwill tag on*. Eligible returns receive in-store credit, giving you another reason to head back into the aisles and find your next favorite thing.
*Please note that seasonal items such as Halloween or Christmas merchandise are not eligible for returns since those products are available for such a limited time.
Accepted returns with the required receipt and original Goodwill tag attached receive in-store credit. Store credits are redeemable for one year from the date of issue at any Goodwill of Central & Northern Arizona retail store location using your return merchandise card. That’s plenty of time to save your credit for the next time a really good thrift find strikes.
Keep your return merchandise card somewhere safe. Lost cards and credits cannot be recovered and are not the responsibility of Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona. You can check your card balance online anytime.
Forgot the receipt? There’s still a return option. Customers returning eligible items without a purchase receipt will receive the last known discount amount of $1. Keeping your receipt handy during the return window helps you get the most out of the return policy.
Not always, and that’s one of the ways shopping at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona stands apart from many thrift stores. Eligible purchases can be returned within the return window when they meet the policy requirements. New and seasonal merchandise, however, cannot be returned.
